Landmark MoU Aims to Improve Pre-Hospital Stroke Treatment and Save Lives

Varahimedia.com online news, Hyderabad,19th November 2024: Boehringer Ingelheim India, through its renowned Angels Initiative, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RED.Health, a leading emergency care provider, to enhance pre-hospital stroke care services in India. This partnership highlights a shared vision of advancing emergency healthcare through timely and life-saving interventions. The collaboration was formalized ahead of World Stroke Day, reinforcing both organizations’ dedication to improving stroke care and strengthening the country’s healthcare ecosystem.

Stroke cases in India are on the rise, making it the fourth leading cause of death and the fifth leading cause of disability. Timely treatment within the “golden period” of 4.5 hours from the onset of symptoms is critical for effective stroke management. However, many patients miss this window, resulting in reduced treatment success rates. This partnership between Boehringer Ingelheim and RED.Health aims to address this gap by implementing faster response times, advanced medical protocols, and comprehensive training programs for emergency medical teams (EMTs).

Key Highlights of the Partnership:

  • Enhanced Stroke Protocols: Formalized stroke protocols, including the use of FAST (Face, Arm, Speech, Time) stroke scales during patient transport.
  • Comprehensive Training: EMTs will receive advanced stroke life support training and certifications through the Angels Initiative platform.
  • No-Cost Support: All training and resources from the Angels Initiative will be provided to RED.Health at no financial cost.
  • Quality Monitoring: RED.Health will participate in the EMS Angels Awards to ensure quality stroke care delivery, monitored via a stroke registry system.
