Varahimedia.com,1st,January,2024:India’s senior players—Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah—are likely to sit out the upcoming home white-ball series against England following the conclusion of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Reports from Sports Tak suggest that the decision to rest the trio is aimed at managing their workload, with a final call pending discussions with the players.

The India-England series includes five T20Is starting on January 22, just 15 days after the Sydney Test concludes. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series beginning on February 6. While Rohit and Kohli have already retired from T20Is, Bumrah is expected to skip both formats. The ODI series holds particular significance as it marks India’s last bilateral assignment before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the UAE.

Bumrah, who was rested during the third Test against New Zealand, and Rohit, who missed the Perth Test due to personal reasons, have otherwise been pivotal in India’s tightly packed cricketing schedule over the past six months.

This decision aligns with the team’s strategy to ensure players’ long-term fitness amidst an increasingly demanding cricket calendar. A team official commented, “It’s essential to provide players with adequate rest when necessary. We’ve been monitoring their fitness and regularly engaging with them to understand their needs. Carefully managing workloads is critical to maintaining top performance.”

By prioritizing player well-being, the Indian team aims to strike a balance between immediate match commitments and sustaining their squad’s fitness for future challenges, including the Champions Trophy.
