Varahimedia.com online news,Hyderabad, December 14, 2024: The Grace Cancer Foundation (GCF), a globally recognized organization committed to combating cancer, marked 11 years of service with a grand celebration at Hotel Daspalla, Jubilee Hills. The event was graced by the Honourable Governor of Telangana, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, who served as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma expressed his admiration for GCF’s dedication. Referring to cancer survivors as “Cancer Conquerors,” he praised their resilience and noted the pivotal role of non-profit organizations like GCF in bridging the gaps in public healthcare. “Amidst the advancements in 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, the most important G is ‘Goodness.’ Let us connect through goodness and ensure no one suffers from cancer,” he remarked. He also encouraged GCF to extend its services to the North Eastern states.
The Governor, along with other dignitaries, unveiled GCF’s 11th Annual Report, which highlighted the organization’s achievements and future goals. Awards were presented to organizations supporting GCF’s mission.
Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, Senior Consultant Robotic Surgical Oncologist and Founder of GCF, emphasized that “Cancer is not a death sentence but a conquerable challenge.” He outlined the foundation’s ambitious plan to reach one lakh individuals through free mobile screening programs for non-communicable diseases in the coming year.
Since its inception, GCF has been dedicated to offering CURE, CARE, and COMPASSION, transforming lives through education, early detection, timely treatment, rehabilitation, and innovative research. Over the past 11 years, GCF has positively impacted the lives of 1.4 crore people across 130 countries. In 2024 alone, over 61,000 individuals benefited from its mobile cancer screening initiatives.
Key Initiatives of GCF:
- Tribal Cancer Screening Programs: Conducted in Odisha and Araku Valley, Andhra Pradesh.
- Anganwadi Teacher and Helper Screenings: Focused on cervical cancer detection in Telangana.
- Screening for Police Personnel: Programs for the Cyberabad police to promote early detection.
- HPV Vaccination Drives: Targeted at schools and colleges.
- Global Grace Cancer Run: A worldwide event against cancer with participation from 1.5 lakh people across 130 countries.
- Research and Collaboration: Advanced studies and partnerships to enhance cancer care and prevention.
Former DGP of Andhra Pradesh, Gautham Sawang, a patron of GCF, lauded the foundation’s initiatives. Sharing his perspective, he noted the importance of early detection, especially among frontline workers like police officers who often neglect their health.
Three cancer survivors shared their inspiring stories at the event, underscoring the impact of timely diagnosis and comprehensive support.
Celebrated author Shri Arun Tiwari and other notable patrons and supporters also attended, making the occasion memorable.
