Varahi media.com online news,Hyderabad, September 8, 2025: IACG Multimedia College, Hyderabad, a pioneer in offering Graduate and Post-Graduate programs in Multimedia in India, is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kyoto Seika University, Japan — the world’s first university dedicated to Manga and Anime studies. The MoU signing will take place at T-Hub, Hyderabad, in the presence of Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Government of Telangana, on Wednesday.

The agreement will be exchanged between Mr. Rama Krishna Polina, Founder & Managing Director, IACG Multimedia College, and Mr. Shin Matsumura, Director, Centre for Research on Contemporary African and Asian Cultures, Kyoto Seika University. The announcement was made at a press meet held at FTCCI, Red Hills, by Dr. Suresh Madiraju, CEO & Principal, IACG, and Mr. Chaitanya CH, Head Academics, IACG.

Key outcomes of the MoU include:

  • Student and faculty exchange programs between India and Japan
  • Industry-academia collaborations to bring global best practices to Telangana
  • Outsourcing and talent opportunities through JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation)
  • Global placement pathways for Telangana-trained creative talent in Manga and Anime

Japan dominates the global animation industry, accounting for over 60% of worldwide consumption. The Anime sector alone is valued at over USD 25 billion, producing 1,000+ Manga titles and 300+ Anime seasons annually. However, the industry faces a shortage of skilled professionals, with studios booked years in advance. This collaboration aims to fill that talent gap, positioning Telangana as a key partner in the global creative ecosystem.

Highlighting the opportunity, experts noted that Anime production budgets are nearly 10 times higher than U.S. animation projects, creating vast potential for Telangana to attract investment, employment, and outsourcing in this high-value sector.

“With Hyderabad’s thriving IT ecosystem and rapidly growing creative industries, Telangana is uniquely placed to emerge as a global hub for Manga and Anime talent,” said Dr. Suresh Madiraju.

Adding to this, Mr. Rama Krishna Polina stated, “JETRO will play an active role in facilitating partnerships, placements, and outsourcing linkages with Japanese studios. This MoU marks a significant step in positioning Telangana as an export hub for creative talent in the Manga and Anime sector.”

The collaboration also includes Young India Skill University, Hyderabad, which will support foreign placements for Indian creative aspirants. Together, IACG, Kyoto Seika University, JETRO, and partner studios will combine international expertise with local talent, creating jobs, attracting investments, and reinforcing Telangana’s global creative leadership.
