Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy will officially launch the new facility, strategically located within the HYDRAA premises near Buddha Bhavan.

This establishment of a specialized police unit, following the model of dedicated forces for disaster response (DRF) and fire safety, underscores HYDRAA’s commitment to tackling unauthorized constructions and encroachments more effectively. Leading the new police station as Station House Officer (SHO) will be ACP P. Thirumal.

The initial team will consist of a seasoned circle inspector alongside six inspectors, a dozen sub-inspectors, and thirty constables. The newly constructed G+2 building, offering approximately 10,500 square feet of operational space, is poised to become a key center for HYDRAA’s law enforcement activities.

Streamlined Action Against Illegal Activities:

The dedicated HYDRAA police station will serve as the primary point for registering and investigating criminal offenses related to the illegal occupation of government land, public utility spaces, parks, roadways, lakes, and waterways. Empowered with specific legal authority, the station will have the mandate to apprehend those found violating these regulations.

This proactive approach will extend to cases involving the unauthorized dumping of soil in protected areas and the illicit transportation of earth, targeting not only the carriers but also the contracting entities and the recipient construction firms. Furthermore, the direct discharge of untreated sewage into water bodies will also be subject to legal action through this new police unit.

Unraveling the Nexus Behind Encroachments:

A core objective of the HYDRAA police station will be to dismantle the networks and identify the key players orchestrating land encroachments. This includes cracking down on individuals who exploit vulnerable populations by establishing temporary settlements for subsequent land grabbing.

Those involved in the creation of fraudulent documents and the manipulation of layout plans to seize government land will face criminal charges and arrest. The police station will also directly address violations of the WALTA Act and fire safety norms, ensuring swift investigation and prosecution.

Strict measures will be implemented against those encroaching upon designated roads and public spaces within approved layouts, as well as the owners of unauthorized advertising hoardings. The illegal transport of sand and unauthorized building activities will also be actively countered.

Protecting Public Interests and Individual Rights:

The HYDRAA police station will also serve as a crucial resource for ordinary citizens facing issues within layouts, particularly those whose plots are being encroached upon by neighboring landowners who then alter the original layout plans.

The dedicated police force will investigate such instances, ensuring that justice is served to those whose property rights have been violated. Acting on grievances filed through public channels, the HYDRAA police will conduct thorough on-site investigations and hold the responsible parties accountable.

HYDRAA’s past efforts have already resulted in the reclamation of hundreds of acres of government land and the protection of numerous lakes, parks, and canals. Over fifty pending cases related to these issues, previously scattered across various police jurisdictions, will now be consolidated under the purview of the HYDRAA police station, aiming for a more focused and effective approach to tackling land-related crimes.
