Varahimedia.com,Mumbai, August 13, 2025: Tata Steel has released Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for three of its flat steel products — Steel Slab, Cold Rolled Closed Annealed (CRCA) Steel, and Galvanised Steel — reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and transparent reporting.
An EPD, classified as a Type III eco-label, is an independently verified document providing detailed, comparable data on a product’s life-cycle environmental impact. Widely used in the green building and construction materials sector, EPDs help disclose embodied carbon and contribute to credit points in green building certification systems.
“This EPD reflects our proactive approach to transparency and accountability, enabling customers to make informed decisions,” said Rajiv Mangal, Vice President – Safety, Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel. “We aim to expand EPD coverage across more of our product range.”

The declarations are based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study conducted under international standards, including ISO 14025, EN15804, ISO 14040, and ISO 14044.
Tata Steel first introduced EPDs in 2022 for Steel Reinforcing Bars used in RCC construction. In Europe, the company has issued over 50 EPDs for the construction sector, marking a significant step in environmental impact transparency and sustainability leadership.
