  • Focus on cybersecurity and cloud: 76% of MSMEs plan to boost cybersecurity investments, while over 70% aim to increase spending on cloud solutions to strengthen digital resilience.
  • Regional digital leaders: Telangana leads the Digital Maturity Index rankings with a DMI of 71.2, followed by Kerala at 63.7 and Maharashtra at 59.2. South India overall recorded the highest regional DMI at 62.9.
  • Sector highlights: Financial Services emerged as the top sector with a DMI of 66, closely followed by Transportation and Retail at 62 each.
  • Women entrepreneurs closing the gap: Women-led businesses (DMI 57.4) are nearly at par with male counterparts (DMI 57.7), with higher adoption in niche segments like education and IT.
  • Generational digital leadership: Entrepreneurs aged 40–60 have the highest digital maturity (DMI 64.0), surpassing younger founders.
  • Digital maturity still fragmented: Only 12% of MSMEs have achieved full digital transformation, indicating that while digital awareness and intent are growing, execution gaps remain.

Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone Idea Ltd, commented:
“MSMEs in India are clearly moving from digital curiosity to digital commitment. The rising investment intent in cloud, cybersecurity, and automation demonstrates how small businesses increasingly view technology as a key growth driver. Through our Ready for Next program, we aim to celebrate these inspiring MSME journeys, from small towns to global markets.”

The report also noted that MSMEs with higher turnover (typically above Rs 50 crore) are more advanced in digital adoption compared to micro and smaller enterprises, which face budget and advisory limitations.

Vi Business continues to support India’s MSMEs with its Ready for Next program, providing digital advisory, resources, and tools to help them scale confidently in an evolving economy.
