Varahi Media.com online news, Hyderabad, September 17, 2024: Mahindra Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), part of the Mahindra Group, announced a new scholarship initiative for the daughters of truck drivers in celebration of Drivers Day 2024. Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan program, the company aims to transform the lives of deserving young women by supporting their pursuit of higher education.

Mahindra, one of the first commercial vehicle manufacturers to spearhead this initiative, will award scholarships of ₹10,000 to each selected candidate, along with a certificate of achievement. This effort continues the Mahindra Truck and Bus Division’s commitment to uplifting the truck driver community, a mission that began with the launch of the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan in 2014.

The scholarships will be distributed through a program reaching over 75 transportation hubs across India, ensuring a transparent and independent process. Since the program’s inception, 10,029 girls have already benefited, allowing them to pursue their academic dreams.

Vinod Sahay, President of Trucks, Buses, CE, Aerospace & Defence Businesses at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, and a member of the Group Executive Board, expressed the company’s vision: “Through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan, we are not just providing scholarships but opening doors to a brighter future. We are committed to empowering the daughters of truck drivers, helping them achieve their academic goals and become a generation of strong women contributing to society and the economy.”

Jalaj Gupta, Business Head – Commercial Vehicles at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., added, “Our continued efforts through the Mahindra Saarthi Abhiyaan are not just about financial support. We aim to foster opportunities and motivation. By investing in these young women’s futures, we’re contributing to a more equitable society where every girl has the chance to fulfill her potential and become a leader.”

The company plans to honor each scholarship recipient with a direct bank transfer of ₹10,000 and a certificate recognizing their achievements. The official felicitation events will take place between February and March 2025 at select locations, where 1,000 scholarships will be presented to the daughters of truck drivers by the Mahindra Truck and Bus leadership team.
