Varahi Media.com online news, October 7th,2024: Renowned historian MyNaa Swamy has been honored with the prestigious Andhra Pradesh Government’s Excellence Award for his exceptional work, Architecture and Art of Vijayanagara – Lepakshi. Swamy received the award in the category of Best Publicity Book, presented by AP Tourism Minister Sri Kandula Durgesh. The award included a shield and a merit certificate.
During the award ceremony, MyNaa Swamy called upon the government to take the necessary steps to secure permanent UNESCO World Heritage recognition for the Lepakshi Veerabhadra Temple, which was added to the provisional list of World Heritage Sites in March 2022.

Swamy’s dedication to the historical and cultural heritage of Lepakshi has been evident in his publications. His book has been published in English, Telugu, and Kannada, with the English edition launched in Delhi. Plans are underway to translate the work into Sanskrit and Hindi, broadening its reach and impact.
Since 1986, MyNaa Swamy has been conducting seminars to promote the significance of Lepakshi’s architecture, sculpture, and mural paintings. His contributions have earned him five State Government Awards and two National-level recognitions to date.
This latest honor further solidifies his reputation as a key figure in the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural heritage.
