Varahi media.com online news, January 21st,2025: Cambridge University Press has joined forces with the Government of India’s trailblazing One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative, a landmark move to democratize access to scholarly content and boost academic and research excellence across the country. By participating in ONOS, Cambridge is making its extensive collection of peer-reviewed journals available to India’s academic community, paving the way for enhanced learning and innovation.

Through ONOS, Cambridge will provide access to 430 high-quality journals spanning Science, Technology, Medicine, and Humanities & Social Sciences. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving 30 global publishers and is set to benefit over 1.77 crore users from 6,380 government-funded institutions across India. With this program, the Government of India aims to create a robust research ecosystem while aligning with its vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Mandy Hill, Managing Director of Academic Publishing at Cambridge University Press, emphasized the alignment of ONOS with Cambridge’s mission of advancing global learning and knowledge sharing. “ONOS reflects our commitment to fostering broader access and greater research impact. We are excited to contribute to an inclusive research ecosystem in India that promotes knowledge sharing and innovation,” she said during her recent visit to India.

In addition to offering seamless access to journals, Cambridge aims to support Indian researchers by providing discounted publication fees and aligning its efforts with the National Education Policy 2020. These steps aim to amplify India’s research capabilities and elevate the nation’s global standing in academia.

Arun Rajamani, Managing Director of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, South Asia, called ONOS a “game-changer” for India’s higher education landscape. “We’re proud to support this initiative, empowering the next generation of Indian researchers and helping unlock the country’s potential for groundbreaking discoveries,” he added.

As part of its contribution to ONOS, Cambridge will host workshops and training sessions to enhance scholarly communication, guide authors through the publishing process, and foster a vibrant researcher community. Journals included in the program range from the Journal of Fluid Mechanics to Acta Numerica and many more esteemed publications.

Cambridge University Press, which publishes over 430 peer-reviewed academic journals and operates in more than 190 countries, continues to bridge borders and foster international collaboration.
