Varahi media.com online news,Hyderabad, October 14th, 2025: As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, CARE Hospitals is calling on women to prioritize routine breast health screenings and early detection, given that breast cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in India and globally.

According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer results in approximately 2.3 million new cases and over 670,000 deaths annually worldwide. In India, it is the most common cancer among women, with a concerning rise in cases among younger women under 40, driven by factors such as lifestyle changes, stress, obesity, delayed childbirth, and reduced breastfeeding.

“Early detection is critical for successful breast cancer treatment. Unfortunately, many Indian women are diagnosed at advanced stages, which limits treatment success. Regular mammograms and self-breast exams are vital for spotting early signs,” said Dr. Satish Pawar, Senior Surgical Oncologist at CARE Cancer Institute, CARE Hospitals, Hyderabad.

Dr. Satish further noted, “Awareness is our greatest ally. Women should stay vigilant for symptoms like painless lumps, changes in breast shape, skin dimpling, or nipple discharge. Even a brief delay in seeking diagnosis can significantly impact outcomes.”

Screening methods such as mammography, ultrasound, and clinical breast exams can boost survival rates by up to 90% in early-stage cases. CARE Hospitals provides comprehensive breast cancer care, including advanced diagnostic imaging, targeted therapies, breast-conserving surgeries, and reconstructive options for holistic treatment.

While advancements in oncology and growing awareness have improved survival rates, stigma, fear, and lack of knowledge continue to deter timely care. CARE Hospitals stresses the importance of open conversations in families and workplaces to normalize breast health discussions and promote proactive steps.

“Breast cancer impacts not just women but entire families and communities. By encouraging regular screenings, early detection, and supportive environments, we can save countless lives,” Dr. Satish emphasized.
