Uber Rolls Out Bike Taxi Service in Warangal, Offers Free First Ride for New Users..

The new two-wheeler taxi service aims to provide a fast, affordable, and convenient travel alternative for daily commuters, students, and residents navigating the rapidly growing city.

To mark its debut in the region, the company announced a limited-time promotional offer, providing all new riders in Warangal with their first Uber Bike ride entirely free of cost.

Focus on Employment and Road Safety

Beyond offering a new transit option, the launch is expected to generate flexible livelihood opportunities for local youth. The inaugural event also carried a strong message regarding road safety.

Wardhannapet MLA, Shri K. R. Nagaraju, alongside Telangana Youth Congress State Secretary, Shri Thota Pavan, officially flagged off the service. Reinforcing a shared commitment to responsible driving, the political leaders distributed ISI-approved helmets to the newly onboarded driver-partners.

“Warangal is growing rapidly, and with that comes the need for accessible, affordable, and reliable mobility options,” stated MLA K. R. Nagaraju. Stressing the critical importance of road safety, he added, “During the golden hour, a helmet can make the critical difference in saving lives. I appreciate Uber for placing safety at the centre of this launch through its free helmet distribution initiative.”

Shri Thota Pavan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the economic impact of the launch. “Reliable and accessible mobility is an important enabler of economic growth and social inclusion. This is a welcome step towards improving first- and last-mile connectivity while creating flexible livelihood opportunities for many locals,” he said.

Strengthening Last-Mile Connectivity

Uber views bike taxis as a crucial component of India’s urban transit ecosystem, specifically catering to short trips where larger vehicles may struggle with traffic or narrow lanes.

Rishant Ghosh, Director of Consumer & Growth for Uber India & South Asia, expressed optimism about the Warangal expansion. “Across India, we’ve seen bike taxis emerge as an affordable and reliable option for everyday travel, especially for short trips and first- and last-mile connectivity. As we double down on bringing this service to more cities, safety remains at the heart of every ride,” Ghosh said.

To ensure passenger and driver security, Uber has integrated several safety features into the bike service. Every trip is backed by an in-app SOS button, a 24×7 Safety Line, the ability to share trip status with trusted contacts, and a Realtime ID Check for drivers.
