Varahi media.com online news, Hyderabad, 26th November 2024: As India celebrates National Milk Day, the latest Godrej Jersey Milk Report reveals a strong preference among Hyderabad consumers not only for milk but also for both traditional and modern value-added dairy products.
The report shows that curd remains the most popular dairy product in Hyderabad, with 81% of consumers choosing it. Ghee follows closely at 70%, highlighting the city’s enduring attachment to traditional dairy products.
Other traditional favorites such as paneer and butter are also widely favored, with 60% and 59% consumer preference, respectively. In addition to these traditional staples, modern dairy options are also gaining ground, with 46% of consumers incorporating yogurt into their diets and 47% expressing interest in flavored milk.

The report, titled ‘Bottoms Up…India Says Cheers to Milk!’, includes findings from across key cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. It offers a detailed look at shifting consumer preferences, with insights into not only the popularity of dairy products but also the growing demand for high-quality, farm-to-home premium milk.
Commenting on the findings, Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey, said, “Indian consumers have a unique blend of traditional dairy preferences and an openness to modern options. From beloved products like curd, paneer, and ghee to newer choices like yogurt and flavored milk, today’s dairy consumers are increasingly mindful of both the nutritional value and quality of the products they choose.

The report further reveals that quality is a significant priority for Indian consumers, with 54% of them ranking milk quality as the most important factor when purchasing dairy products. In Hyderabad, 51% of consumers also place a high emphasis on quality, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of unadulterated, safe dairy. This trend suggests a willingness among consumers to pay a premium for superior dairy products.
