Varahi Media.com online news,Hyderabad, 24th September 2024: Granules India Ltd, a leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in Hyderabad, has officially launched the ‘Breast Health Express,’ a mobile cancer screening unit, at AIG Hospitals. This initiative, spearheaded by the Granules Trust in partnership with the Asian Medical Foundation, UC Breast Foundation, and AIG Hospitals, aims to enhance cancer detection and treatment, particularly in underserved and remote areas.

The mobile unit is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including state-of-the-art mammography and ultrasound systems. In addition to cancer screening, it offers essential health checks such as haemoglobin, blood pressure, and glucose level assessments. With these capabilities, the mobile clinic is poised to significantly improve access to healthcare by bringing life-saving services and distributing free medicines to communities with limited medical resources. The primary focus will be on early detection of breast cancer, which can greatly increase survival rates.

Mrs. Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director of Granules India Ltd and Chairperson of the Granules Trust, expressed the organization’s dedication to improving public health. She said, “The launch of the Breast Health Express showcases our commitment to going beyond pharmaceuticals and directly addressing critical healthcare gaps. We believe that by bringing breast cancer screening services to rural and underserved communities, we can make a significant difference in health outcomes. Our goal is to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all, especially where it is needed the most.”

Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “This partnership between Granules Trust, Asian Medical Foundation, UC Breast Foundation, and AIG Hospitals exemplifies how the private sector can unite to tackle pressing healthcare challenges. The Breast Health Express will play a pivotal role in bringing cancer screening services to remote areas, ensuring early detection and treatment.”

Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati, Consultant Breast Oncologist at AIG Hospitals and Founder of UC Breast Foundation, highlighted the broader benefits of the initiative, saying, “The Breast Health Express not only focuses on screenings but also aims to empower women with knowledge about breast health and the importance of self-examinations. Through this mobile unit and the ongoing efforts of the UC Breast Foundation, we aim to promote early detection and provide financial support for women who need treatments like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.”

The launch of the Breast Health Express is timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, reinforcing the global effort to promote breast cancer prevention and early detection. The mobile unit will begin its operations in and around Hyderabad, with plans to expand to other districts in Telangana over the coming months.

This innovative initiative represents a crucial step toward bridging healthcare disparities, ensuring that vital screening services reach those most in need, and saving lives through early intervention.
