Varahi media.com online news, December 23rd,2025: In a significant step toward rural electrification and community safety, the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, officially inaugurated Signify’s flagship CSR program, “Har Gaon Roshan,” in Chhattisgarh.

The initiative, launched by the global lighting leader (formerly Philips Lighting), aims to transform the rural landscape by installing modern, energy-efficient LED streetlights across 70 villages situated within the Indravati Tiger Reserve area.

Strategic Partnership for Rural Empowerment

The project is a collaborative effort between Signify, the Government of Chhattisgarh, and Bharat Cares. Aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India), the initiative focuses on:

  • Infrastructure Development: Strengthening rural roads with sustainable lighting solutions.
  • Safety & Security: Enhancing public safety in tribal and remote regions after dark.
  • Economic Growth: Enabling local commerce and community activities to continue into the evening hours.

Technology Meets Grassroots Action

Signify is utilizing its expertise in sustainable LED technology to ensure the project is both eco-friendly and cost-effective. The implementation follows a “community-first” model, working closely with district administrations and village representatives to ensure the lighting meets the specific needs of the local residents.

Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, and CSR at Signify (Greater India), stated that light is a vital enabler of social connection and opportunity. He emphasized that this partnership reflects the company’s commitment to inclusive progress and its mission to ensure every village in India “shines brighter.”

Bhomik Shah, Founder of Bharat Cares, highlighted the importance of the project in Chhattisgarh’s tribal heartland, noting that it fosters harmony between nature and the local communities by providing safer environments.

Long-Term Impact

The “Har Gaon Roshan” initiative has already reached numerous villages across several Indian states. By replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient LEDs, the program not only reduces the carbon footprint but also unlocks new social and educational opportunities for villagers, contributing to the long-term journey of national development.
