Varahi media.com online news,Hyderabad,January 11,2026: The South Zone chapter of the prestigious Asmita Yogasana Zonal League 2025-26 was grandly inaugurated at the Delhi Public School (DPS) campus on Sunday. Organized under the aegis of the Telangana Yogasana Sports Association and Yogasana Bharat, the three-day event has drawn over 350 female participants from six different states across the South Zone.
Distinguished Guests Grace the Occasion The inaugural ceremony saw a high-profile lineup of dignitaries. Former Governor of Haryana, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, attended as the Chief Guest. Other notable guests included Shri Malla Reddy, State Secretary of the Olympic Association, and Shri Sridhar Rao, President of Yogasana Bharat (State Unit). The event is being hosted under the leadership of Shri Malka Komarayya, MLC and Chairman of DPS.

Yoga for Mental and Physical Fortitude Addressing the gathering, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya emphasized the holistic benefits of the ancient practice. “Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is vital for mental clarity and overall well-being. It is imperative that we inculcate the habit of practicing Yoga in children from a very young age,” he stated.

A First for Telangana Shri Malla Reddy expressed his pride in Telangana hosting the South Zone competitions for the first time. He encouraged the young athletes to look beyond the zonal level and aim for glory at the State and National championships. Adding to this, Shri Sridhar Rao noted that the government is actively promoting Yoga as a sport, announcing that winners would be honored with cash prizes, medals, and certificates.
Preserving Ancient Heritage DPS Chairman and MLC, Shri Malka Komarayya, highlighted the global resurgence of the practice. “Yoga is our ancient heritage, and it is our collective responsibility to preserve and promote it. Under the current administration’s leadership, Yoga has gained worldwide recognition, culminating in the global celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21st,” he remarked.

The ceremony concluded with a series of demonstration poses by participants, leaving the audience and judges impressed. The league will continue for the next two days, featuring various categories of Yogasana competitions.
