Varahi media.com online news,National, February 14th, 2025: The University of Canterbury (UC) and the Gough Family Foundation have reaffirmed their commitment to leadership excellence by renewing the Gough Family Foundation MBA Leaders Scholarship for another four years, extending it until 2030.
The renewed partnership introduces expanded international learning opportunities and leadership development initiatives, further enhancing the scholarship’s impact.
UC’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Cheryl de la Rey, alongside Ben and Penny Gough, founders of the Gough Family Foundation, officially signed the agreement, underscoring a shared vision of empowering future leaders in Waitaha Canterbury, Aotearoa New Zealand, and beyond.

Strengthening Leadership for Global Impact
Ben Gough highlighted the scholarship’s role in fostering leadership that benefits both business and community sectors.
“By leveraging the strengths of both UC and the Gough Family Foundation, scholars gain access to world-class universities and leading business minds in New Zealand. Scholars can participate in programmes such as Stanford’s Design Thinking course, strengthening their leadership skills and fostering international networks. This initiative aligns with the scholarship’s mission to “take the best of Waitaha Canterbury to the world and bring the best of the world to Aotearoa, New Zealand.”

Another key component is the Courage in Leadership course, developed in partnership with Outward Bound. This immersive programme combines experiential learning with reflective practice, shaping scholars into well-rounded leaders capable of tackling complex challenges.
