Varahi media.com online news,New Delhi, April 21, 2025: Tech major Samsung is ramping up its focus on the Indian market by introducing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven features tailored specifically for local needs. This includes vernacular voice command support across nine Indian languages and a broader rollout of AI capabilities in mid-range appliances.

With India ranking third globally in SmartThings app usage-boasting around 23 million registered users—Samsung is optimistic about future growth in the smart appliance segment. The SmartThings platform, which allows users to control IoT-enabled devices, has seen a global 39% spike in device registrations in 2024.

To accelerate its vision of making AI mainstream, Samsung is introducing AI-enabled features, previously limited to premium products, to its mid-tier offerings via the lightweight Tizen Lite OS. This ensures AI capabilities, such as Bixby voice commands, AI Energy Mode, AI Wash, and AI VRT+, are now available in appliances like top-load washing machines.

“Our goal is for AI products to contribute to 70% of our sales in India,” said executives at a media roundtable addressed by Sungil Hahm, Deokho Kim, and Moonkeun Lee-senior leaders from Samsung’s Software R&D and AI Solution Labs.

In a further push for local relevance, Samsung will roll out support for Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, and Telugu on its Family Hub refrigerators from next month. The company also has four software development centres and a design centre in India dedicated to creating localized features.

Highlighting new India-first upgrades, Samsung is embedding unique offerings like the ‘Stain Wash’ function directly onto washing machine control panels, rather than relying on app downloads. For room air conditioners, it has developed features based on research into Indian habits-like combining fans and ACs for comfort.

Additionally, Samsung has introduced Home Care Plus, a customer service feature that proactively detects appliance errors. All of this is secured with Samsung Knox, ensuring user data privacy for its AI-powered appliances.

According to the company, its Bespoke AI appliances help users save 10–70% energy while enhancing ease of use, care, and convenience-Samsung’s three core pillars of customer value.
