Varahi media.com online news,December 16, 2025: PwC India and the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA) have announced a major collaboration aimed at strengthening global efforts to protect the world’s seven iconic big cat species: the Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Puma, and Jaguar.

Over the next year, the partnership will focus on developing comprehensive conservation strategies, empowering local communities, raising public awareness, and supporting vital field programmes. A key aspect of this initiative is actively engaging the corporate sector and facilitating Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to significantly enhance private sector involvement in global big cat conservation finance.

Strategic Goals and Global Reach..
The collaboration seeks to translate India’s highly successful big-cat initiatives into scalable approaches that can benefit other countries facing similar ecological challenges in Africa, South America, and South Asia.

Dr. S.P. Yadav, Director General, IBCA, highlighted the value of the partnership: “Our collaboration with PwC India brings valuable expertise and a powerful platform to amplify conservation finance, community stewardship, and partnerships. Together, we can accelerate progress to safeguard big cats and their habitats — a cause that resonates far beyond conservation circles.”

Sambitosh Mohapatra, Partner and Leader – Sustainability Transformation, PwC India, emphasized the strategic alignment: “We are proud to join hands with IBCA in this meaningful endeavour to help co-create solutions to protect iconic big cat species that play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance… This collaboration allows us to apply our strategic and operational strengths in new ways, advancing sustainability goals that benefit both nature and communities.”

Key Initiatives for Coordinated Action..
As part of the 12-month collaboration, PwC India and IBCA will jointly host three major conservation events:

International Convening: A global platform for dialogue.

National-Level Workshop: Focused on local policy and implementation.

Webinar: Dedicated to landscape restoration and habitat conservation.

These platforms are designed to bring together scientists, policymakers, conservation organizations, and community groups to build a shared understanding of challenges and accelerate coordinated action and funding.

The organizations will also co-create a thought-leadership publication that will act as a practical roadmap for organizations seeking to strengthen conservation models. Collectively, these initiatives aim to support governments in improving habitats, reducing human–wildlife conflict, enabling sustainable financing, and reflecting the crucial link between biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
