Varahi media.com online news,National, May 28, 2025: IndiGo, India’s leading airline, and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd. (AAHL), the country’s largest operator of PPP airports, have announced a groundbreaking partnership to kickstart commercial operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). This collaboration marks a major milestone in India’s journey to becoming the world’s third-largest aviation market by 2030.

IndiGo will commence operations with 18 daily departures (36 ATMs) to over 15 cities from day one, making it the first airline to commit to NMIA. By November 2025, services will scale up to 79 daily departures (158 ATMs) including 14 international flights, and further expand to over 100 daily departures (200 ATMs) by March 2026. By November 2026, the airline will operate 140 daily departures (280 ATMs), including 30 international flights.

Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, remarked, “We are thrilled to be the inaugural airline at NMIA. This partnership highlights our operational readiness and commitment to India’s booming aviation sector. With the launch of new routes from NMIA, we aim to deliver affordable, on-time, and hassle-free services for our customers.”

Arun Bansal, CEO of AAHL, added, “We are excited to welcome IndiGo as our first airline partner at NMIA. This partnership positions NMIA as a transfer hub for both domestic and international travellers, transforming the travel experience for millions. Together, we will strengthen NMIA’s role as a gateway for India and beyond.”

Set to be India’s premier international aviation hub, NMIA will offer cutting-edge facilities, seamless connectivity, and best-in-class passenger experiences. In its initial phase, NMIA will handle 20 million passengers and 0.5 MMT of cargo annually, with future capacity reaching 90 million passengers and 3.2 MMT of cargo.

IndiGo’s expansion from NMIA underlines its dedication to connecting India with the world, offering travellers increased convenience and more options. NMIA’s launch will also create a dual-airport system for Mumbai, easing congestion at the city’s current airport and driving economic growth for the region and Maharashtra.

This partnership sets the stage for unlocking new opportunities, fostering collaboration, and reinforcing India’s aviation future.
