Varahi media.com online news,Hyderabad, September 8, 2025:In a significant ruling, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission–III, Hyderabad, has found Vasavi Medical & Research Centre, Lakdikapul, guilty of medical negligence and deficiency of service. The case was filed by Dr. A. Rajesh, a celebrated live statue artist from Masabtank, Hyderabad, after the tragic death of his mother, Mrs. Aligati Sharada (76), in November 2020.

Mrs. Sharada was admitted on 13th November 2020 for what was supposed to be a routine angiogram, referred by the family doctor, Mr. Vijay Soni. However, her condition deteriorated fatally during the procedure. “She walked into the hospital but came out as a lifeless body,” recalled Dr. Rajesh, breaking down as he recounted the incident.

According to him, doctors at the hospital, Dr. Sreekanth Reddy (Senior Interventional Cardiologist) and Dr. Nageshwar Rao (Head of Cardiology), pushed for stent implants. After the first stent was placed, an attempt to insert a second one allegedly led to a sudden heart attack, resulting in her death.

After years of legal battle, the Commission concluded that the hospital and doctors had been negligent, ordering them to pay a fine as compensation.

Speaking to the media at FTCCI, Red Hills, Dr. Rajesh emphasized that his fight was never about money. “No amount can bring back my mother. My appeal to the public is to never agree to any medical procedure without seeking a second or third opinion. Hospitals often rush families into decisions—please pause, consult, and don’t surrender blindly,” he urged.

Dr. Rajesh, who described his mother as his “living god,” continues to keep her memory alive through his art. He has created 25 portraits of her in different media, including a unique artwork crafted entirely from her name, “Sharada,” and another composed using her English signature. He has also sculpted a live statue of her, immortalizing her presence.

At the press meet, Dr. Rajesh was joined by his family, supporters, and legal counsel. Together, they called for stronger regulatory action against negligent medical practices and urged authorities to ensure accountability in healthcare.
