Varahi Media.com online news, India,September 11th,2024:The 20th edition of the Power Plant Summit, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will take place on 10th and 11th September 2024 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). This year’s summit, themed “Transforming Thermal Power Plants Through Improved Energy Efficiency, Environment Management, Flexible Operations, and Adoption of AI,” aims to address critical advancements and challenges in the thermal power sector.
The summit beganwith an insightful theme addressby Mr. S.K. Ghosh, Chairman of the Power Plant Summit 2024 and Executive Director (Operations) at NTPC Ltd. Mr. “In India, thermal power plants account for a significant portion of our energy production. India’s installed thermal energy capacity stands at approximately 234 GW, constitutingabout 56% of the total installed power generation capacity,”said Mr. Ghosh. “This summit will be a significant platform for sharing insights and developing strategies that align with the evolving needs of the sector.”
The inauguralsession concluded with remarks from Mr. Dharmendra Shrivastava, Co-Chair of the Power Plant Summit 2024 and CE & Whole-time Director at L&T MHI Power Boilers Pvt Ltd. Mr. Shrivastava summarized the key takeaways from the summit and outlined actionable steps for moving forward. “The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been at the forefront of driving efficiency improvements not only in the power sector but across various industries,” said Mr. Shrivastava.
The summit will explore innovative methods to enhance energy efficiency, advance environmental management practices, and enhance flexible operations in thermal power plants. A key focus will be on the integration of automation and artificial intelligence to drive performance improvements and sustainability.
The Power Plant Summit 2024 is being organized in tandem with the 23rd CII Energy Efficiency Summit. The event will be followed by the 25th National Energy Awards for Excellence in Energy Management where the top power plants in India will present & showcase their technical & managerial expertise in energy efficiency and energy management.
