Varahi media.com online news, Hyderabad, December 5th, 2024: His Excellency Jishnu Dev Varma, the Governor of Telangana, visited the Mahila Dakshata Samithi (MDS) Educational Institutions, a renowned organization dedicated to social service and women’s empowerment through education.
MDS, established over four decades ago, has been at the forefront of uplifting women, particularly from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, by providing them with opportunities for higher education and holistic development.
The event was graced by prominent figures including Shri Bijay Mandhani, Chairman of MBG Group; Shri Vinod K. Agarwal, IAS (Retd); Shri Prakash Goenka, Industrialist & Trustee of MDS; Shri Vijay Kumarswamy, Senior Program Manager at Google Maps; Smt. Aruna Malani, Secretary of MDS; Jaya Baheti, and Raj Shri Jain.
During the event, the Governor presented mementoes to the following top achievers in recognition of their exceptional academic performance:
K. Sai Satya Veni – State 2nd Rank in BIE March 2024
Shruthi – 1st Position in Degree Final Year
Aleyamma Sara – 1st Place in B.Sc Nursing
B. Niharika and G. Madhavi – Participation in the National Level Yoga Championship
In his speech, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma praised MDS for its remarkable work in transforming the lives of girls from rural and underprivileged backgrounds. He acknowledged the organization’s commitment to not just academics but also the overall development of its students, building confidence, resilience, and self-reliance.
He highlighted the leadership of Dr. Saroj Bajaj, the President of MDS, and her tireless efforts in empowering over 10,000 students who have excelled in various fields such as healthcare, technology, and banking. The Governor also spoke about the upcoming Nirmala Goenka Girls Hostel, which will further enhance MDS’s mission of supporting young women in realizing their potential.
Reflecting on the vision of Swami Vivekananda, the Governor emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment for the development of society and echoed Mahatma Gandhi’s belief that “If you educate a woman, you educate an entire family.” He expressed his admiration for MDS’s work in contributing to a more equitable and empowered society.
Dr. Saroj Bajaj, President of MDS, expressed her gratitude for the visit of His Excellency Jishnu Dev Varma. She emphasized that MDS has always strived to provide women with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel.
