Varahi media.com online news,India, 30 May 2025:IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to develop a cutting-edge Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport). This agreement underscores IndiGo’s continued commitment to strengthening its operational infrastructure and supporting its expanding fleet.

Under the MoU, BIAL will allocate approximately 31 acres of land for IndiGo’s new MRO complex. Designed to service both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, the facility will bolster IndiGo’s maintenance capabilities and cement its growing operational presence at Bengaluru’s premier international airport.

The MoU also encompasses broader cooperation in areas such as network expansion, infrastructure development, and joint marketing initiatives. This partnership reflects both organizations’ strategic intent to enhance Bengaluru’s role as a key domestic and international aviation hub for passengers and air cargo.

With IndiGo’s fleet exceeding 400 aircraft, a dedicated MRO facility will significantly improve aircraft availability, reduce maintenance costs, and shorten turnaround times – delivering enhanced efficiency and a superior customer experience. Additionally, this development will further strengthen the aerospace and defense ecosystem in Karnataka. IndiGo already operates MRO facilities in Delhi and Bengaluru.
