Initially, the French did not refer to this style of kissing as “French kiss.” They simply called it “kissing.”
Surprisingly, until 2014, there was no specific term for this style in the French language. It was only then that the Petit Robert dictionary introduced the term “galoucher,” meaning “kissing with the tongue.”
