Anant Ambani’s Vantara Honored with National ‘Prani Mitra’ Award for Outstanding Animal Welfare

This award acknowledges the exceptional efforts of the Radhe Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust (RKTEWT), a key initiative under Vantara, dedicated to rescuing, treating, and providing lifelong care for elephants.

At the heart of this recognition is Vantara’s state-of-the-art Elephant Care Centre, which houses over 240 rescued elephants, offering them a chain-free, secure, and enriching environment. These elephants, including 30 rescued from circuses and over 100 from the logging industry, have been saved from exploitative practices such as rides and street performances.

The facility spans 998 acres of specially designed forest, allowing the elephants to roam freely, forage naturally, take mud baths, and interact in a stress-free setting. Equipped with world-class veterinary services, the centre ensures both the physical and psychological well-being of its residents.

The award was officially presented by the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying at a grand ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
