Axis Bank Debuts Aadhaar Face Authentication for Digital Mobile Number Updates..

Varahi media.com online news,MUMBAI,April 1st,2026: In a significant move toward enhancing digital security and user convenience, Axis Bank has announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind feature allowing customers to update their registered mobile numbers using Aadhaar Face Authentication.

With this rollout, Axis Bank becomes the first major Indian lender to integrate UIDAI’s advanced biometric service into a completely Do-It-Yourself (DIY) digital journey via its mobile banking application.

Redefining Secure Authentication

The new service replaces traditional physical verification or OTP-heavy processes with a streamlined, three-step digital journey. By leveraging the Aadhaar database, the bank ensures that the person requesting the change is the legitimate account holder, significantly reducing the risk of unauthorized access.

The Update Process:

Input: Users enter their new mobile number into the Axis Mobile App.
Face Scan: Using the AadhaarFaceRD app, a live photo is captured and matched against UIDAI’s records in real-time.
Verification: A final OTP is sent to the new number to complete the validation.

Enhanced Security Measures

To combat digital fraud and protect customer funds, Axis Bank has implemented a “Cooling Period” strategy. Once a mobile number is updated, transaction limits are automatically reset to default for the first 24 hours. This ensures an additional layer of safety while the customer re-registers on the app.
