Varahi media.com online news,Mumbai, March 11th, 2025: Marking the beginning of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, State Bank of India (SBI) continues to expand its reach and empower underserved communities.

As part of its 70-year legacy, Hon’ble Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, inaugurated 70 new branches and 501 Women Customer Service Points (CSPs), reinforcing SBI’s commitment to financial inclusion.

The event took place in the presence of DFS Secretary, Shri M. Nagaraju, and SBI Chairman, Shri CS Setty, alongside a special Board Meeting addressed by the Finance Minister.

SBI remains dedicated to expanding its branch network to reach unbanked and underserved populations. This fiscal year, the bank strategically launched branches in key rural areas, including Pughophoto (Nagaland), Itamati (Odisha), Chullimanoor (Kerala), Palasamudram (Andhra Pradesh), and Chinnambavi (Telangana), demonstrating its unwavering commitment to financial accessibility.

In Q3 FY25, SBI added 100 new branches, surpassing a total network of 22,800 branches nationwide. The bank also maintains a robust 78,023 CSP network, with the latest 501 Women CSPs further strengthening its mission of “Banking the unbanked, securing the unsecured, and funding the unfunded.”

SBI continues to drive social impact initiatives, allocating ₹26 crore across 17 CSR projects, focusing on women’s empowerment, healthcare, sanitation, livelihood development, and environmental sustainability. In the first nine months of FY25, the bank deployed ₹379 crore towards community development and sustainable growth.

During the inauguration, Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized SBI’s role as a trusted financial partner to over 51 crore customers, highlighting its resilience, innovation, and digital transformation in making banking more accessible and inclusive. She remarked that SBI serves approximately 5.6% of the global population, underscoring its agility and competitiveness in the financial sector.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Finance Minister expressed her pleasure in inaugurating 501 Women CSPs, calling it a milestone in fostering financial independence for women. “These service points will strengthen last-mile banking access, empowering women to take control of their financial future and contribute to India’s economic growth,” she stated.

With seven decades of service, SBI remains at the forefront of financial inclusion, reinforcing its position as India’s most trusted banking partner, driving economic progress and prosperity for all.
