365Telugu.com online news, National,January 31st,2025: JSW MG Motor India, in collaboration with LICO Materials, part of the Epsilon Group, has unveiled its latest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) under the ‘Project Revive’ initiative. The system utilizes repurposed MG ZS EV batteries, reinforcing the company’s dedication to promoting a circular electric vehicle (EV) economy through innovation.

Unlike conventional energy solutions, this BESS offers a lifespan four times longer and can reduce operational costs by up to 60%.

This project marks the fourth pilot under Project Revive for second-life battery applications, showcasing JSW MG Motor India’s commitment to extending the life cycle of EV batteries beyond their initial use. Through strategic collaborations, the company aims to unlock the untapped potential of EV batteries in a bid to create sustainable energy solutions.

With advancements over previous initiatives, this project represents the most cutting-edge deployment in the series. It highlights the transformative role of BESS technology in advancing clean energy solutions for India. BESS contributes to grid stability, decreases dependence on fossil fuels, and maximizes the utilization of renewable energy resources.

LICO Materials, a leader in the recycling and refurbishment of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries, has played a critical role in this innovative project. LICO has developed three versatile models, integrating advanced technology with environmental sustainability to cater to various energy storage requirements across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

The energy storage systems come in capacities of 18kWh, 100kWh, and 300kWh, ensuring reliable performance. Each model features state-of-the-art safety mechanisms, such as immersion oil cooling, multi-layered safety designs, and smart thermal management systems. Operating efficiently across a broad temperature range (-20°C to 60°C), each system comes with a warranty exceeding five years, ensuring long-term reliability.

Neha Jain, Head of EV and Innovation Ecosystem at JSW MG Motor India, shared, “Project Revive is crucial for enhancing the sustainability of the EV ecosystem by giving our EV batteries a second life. Through valuable partnerships, we are committed to providing a variety of energy storage solutions for diverse needs.

Our collaboration with LICO Materials is key to advancing this mission, as it combines innovative technology with a deep commitment to environmental responsibility. We believe that these initiatives under ‘Project Revive’ contribute to a circular EV ecosystem and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future.”

Vikram Handa, Managing Director of Epsilon Carbon, added, “At Epsilon Group, we view innovation as a means to create a sustainable future. The collaboration between JSW MG Motor India and LICO on ‘Project Revive,’ along with LICO’s LiGRID system, is transforming how energy is stored and utilized. This is not just about technology—it’s about creating a lasting impact on the way we power our world.”

Gaurav Dolwani, Founder & CEO of LICO Materials, commented, “At LICO, we are committed to driving a circular economy in the energy sector. Our LiGRID series reflects this vision by giving end-of-life batteries a second life, reducing waste, and advancing sustainable energy solutions. By leading the way in energy storage technology, we are not only developing innovative BESS systems but also addressing the pressing need for sustainability and grid resilience.”

JSW MG Motor India has previously launched several initiatives under ‘Project Revive’ focused on EV battery recycling and sustainability. As part of its broader mission to minimize environmental impact, the company collaborated with Vision Mechatronics to create India’s first high-voltage UPS for industrial use.

Additionally, it partnered with BATX and IIT Delhi to pilot a 100% off-grid EV charging station in February 2024, and in August 2024, it worked with Lohum and TERI to deploy a 5kWh BESS unit to power a school in Nainital. These efforts highlight the company’s dedication to pioneering sustainable mobility solutions and contributing to India’s energy transformation.
